I would first like to mention how excellent Peterson customer service is. I ordered the Stroboplus HDC which was delivered fast. The unit had a problem with the built in microphone not working. I opened a ticket, explained the problem, had a response within an hour that they were shipping another tuner. Got the replacement in a couple days with a UPS return label included. Stuff happens sometimes, but how it's handled is what sets Peterson apart. No hassle, and friendly professional service.
That said, this Strobe tuner is fantastic. Spending a few minutes with the manual to get familiar with how it works, I had my guitars tuned quickly. Using the GTR & ACU sweetners work great on both electric and acoustic.. A few decades ago, I worked for a piano company rebuilding antique grand pianos. After re-stringing a newly restored piano, we used one of the old Conn Strobe tuners daily to get the piano up to a rough pitch over a week's time. I loved the analog strobe tuners, and was skeptical with digital strobe tuners, but sold now. This thing works really well.
The pictures of the StroboPlus HDC on the website shows a micro-usb port. But the new Stroboplus HDC's are indeed usb-c, which was a nice surprise. Really like how you can plug the tuner into a computer, go online to Peterson's site, register your tuner, and configure the default sweetners, metronome, etc...
I know it's an expensive tuner vs a headstock clip on, but trust me, it's worth it. I plan on buying one of the the pedal board tuners too.
