I bought my first Peterson StroboStomp way back before I got married and came off the road to live the life I wanted more than I wanted to continue touring, and way before my transition which included a legal name change,

So when I decided to learn to play bass guitar at 64 years old I bought my first bass and a Super Snark clip on tuner. Seven months later I upgraded to a five string bass while keeping my original bass guitar as a backup. The clip on tuner worked fine for that bass, but couldn’t handle the low B string of my five string bass. I compared several pedal tuners including the StroboStomp HD amongst them.

In the end it came down to two tuners. Big surprise here is that the only two leftover, after trying out several other options, were the StroboStomp HD and the StroboStomp Mini. I liked the HD for its larger Sweetener library (over 135) while the Mini boasted a smaller library (over80). I went back and forth on it asking myself “is the HD’s larger sweetener library worth the extra $30.00 to me?” In the end the answer was No. The Mini would fit better with my growing arsenal of pedals. As long as I could fit it into my Gigbag and use it to tune my bass whenever I needed to, I would be very happy.

I bought the SSM and it arrived this afternoon. I put it through its paces until late this evening through my practice session and then rehearsal. The mini did not let me down. It fits perfectly with my other two pedals, it stays on even when playing so I can see instantly if anything goes out of tune and I can just step on the switch between songs and tune up without the audience having to listen to it.

I’m certain that I have made the right choice and that the Peterson StroboStomp Mini will serve me well for many years to come.
