The directionality of this microphone is good and I'm able to tune a piano is a non-perfectly quiet environment, but the microphone stand/holder is pure junk (it won't support the microphone) and the listed frequency range of this microphone is only 80-12,000. The lowest note on a piano is 27.5, which is below this mic's range. When tuning those lower frequency keys, I suppose the strobe is registering only the harmonics.
