The 12 individual notes of the Western chromatic scale are generally referred to differently depending on what role they play in a particular key. Although D# is technically the same pitch as Eb (at least in Equal Temperament), it is more correct to refer to it as Eb if playing in a "flat" key such as Ab or Bb.
