The Peterson VSS-C StroboStomp Classic Tuner is the most fully-featured pedal tuner made by anyone to date. A high-contrast LCD screen makes this tuner the perfect choice for both indoor and outdoor use as well as for anywhere that lighting conditions are less than ideal. Integrated, fold out, steel mounting lugs at the unit’s bottom rubberized plate keep it in place on your pedal board without unsightly tape or messy adhesives. Its ultra-robust die-cast chassis and Switchcraft brand input/output jacks assure a quality tuning even after the roughest of voyages. Also, its unique quick- release battery-access door steers you far away from having to deal with delicate, easily broken, battery lead wires. Battery changes are a breeze!

The professional-quality active DI on board is mutable and lets you select one of three stages of signal attenuation—all while remaining 100% true bypass. Finally, the tuner’s side mounted USB jack makes your unit future-proof and custom tailored to be exactly what you need it to be by allowing Mac or PC connectivity for updates and unit user programming/modifications.

TRUE STROBE TUNING IN A PEDAL

Building off the success of the legendary StroboStomp™ pedal, the Stomp Classic™ is a workhorse that will enhance any pedalboard. From the true-bypass signal flow to the active, on-board direct box. We have redefined the standard and created the ultimate pedal tuner.

HIGH DEFINITION TUNING

All Peterson products provide guaranteed tuning results to within +/-0.1 cent. That is 1/1000th of a fret! The large 2.25" , high-contrast screen is easy to see on your pedalboard amongst stage lights or out in the sun.

Tuning with the Stomp Classic™ allows your instrument to sound its best and helps ensure its tuning stays true during playing.

This level of accuracy is the highest in the industry and what has made Peterson the choice of professionals around the globe for over 65 years.

High-impedance signals get balanced and matched with ultra-transparency, extreme detail and sparkle. Perfect for use with acoustic or bass guitars, electric pianos and synthesizers. Fully mute-able for private tuning at the gig between songs.

Three step attenuation pad reduces the incoming signal level from loud sources that could overload the circuit and cause distortion. Selectable ground lift reduces noise and helps prevent ground loop hum in your rig.

High-quality Neutrik® XLR jack for optimum reliability and roll cage bar to protect your XLR cable on stage from accidents.

IT'S YOUR SOUND

Enjoy transparent operation no matter its location in your signal chain.

LET'S CONNECT

We have designed this to be the most roadworthy tuner you can place on your pedalboard.

BUILT TO LAST

A heavy duty, die-cast chassis with a 3PDT stomp switch makes the Stomp Classic™ road-worthy and reliable. The 9V battery drop is located under the pedal and is easily accessed with one finger for quick loading before the gig.

No more thumbscrews to remove or battery doors to lose.

The thick rubber matting securely grips even the most abused of stages. For those looking to permanently mount the Stomp Classic™, flip-out mounting tabs are located on the bottom of the unit.

I've installed Peterson Connect for Google Chrome. My device is plugged in, but it says 'No Device Detected'

For Peterson Connect to detect your device, your operating system needs to first install drivers and mount the USB device. This can take a few minutes on a Windows machine, and a few seconds on Mac. If your operating system is not aware of a connected device, Peterson Connect will not be able to detect it.

If your system is not detecting the USB device, it is either an issue with the cable, USB port ( on the device or computer ) or a problem with the device itself.

Here's how to check if Mac OS X detects your Peterson Device.

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203001

Click the USB tab. ( Press Command 'R' to refresh the USB list if you've connected since opening the System Report )

Windows users can locate the StroboPLUS HD in the device manager under Sound, Video and Game Controllers, and the Stomp Classic as a standard HID compliant device under Human Interface Devices

Some Windows users have found that connecting to a different USB port solves the problem. Windows will install new drivers for each USB port.

Peterson Connect for Google Chrome and OSx versions lower than 10.8 may or may not function properly. Due to these operating systems no longer being distributed, Peterson can not properly test for 100% compatibility. The legacy stand-alone desktop application however, was tested on these platforms when it was initally released and is still compatible for firmware update operations.

Download the dmg file from this link, open and drag all contents of the package to your applications folder.

http://www.petersontuners.com/firmware/PetersonConnect_1_0_3.dmg

Upon connecting your device with the USB cable you should see a product logo and icon. Don't worry about the 'Account Settings' on the desktop app. Any firmware updates will show up under 'Updates'

Is the accuracy the same for all Peterson tuners?

Yes, the accuracy is within 0.1 cents (1/1000 of one semitone) as with all Peterson Strobe Tuners. An important thing to note is that Peterson Strobe Tuners have ultra high definition displays, so not only are they highly accurate in detecting a note but they have the ability to display that accuracy. Other products claim accuracy but do not have the high definition screen to display the level of accuracy in which they claim. If you cannot see the accuracy, it is of little value. Only Peterson provides High Definition Strobe Tuning.

How do I read a strobe display?

Basically, the strobe image appears to travel to the left if your instrument is flat of the desired pitch and to the right if it is sharp. On earlier models such as the StroboStomp 1, StroboStomp 2, VS-1, VS-II and V-SAM, the strobe image travels upward if your instrument is sharp and downward if your instrument is flat of the desired pitch.

Adjust your instrument until the pattern is as close to still as possible. Strobe displays are 'real-time' and extremely high definition. They require very precise tuning adjustments to stop the display because the frequency/pitch of any instrument is never totally stable.

You'll quickly learn to read the display, make the most precise adjustments and appreciate the high resolution that only a Peterson provides.
