Got it t work (sort of), by hooking both up to a computer and using Midi-Ox to map the two together. I'm using the USB on the DR-880 set to MIDI.
The tempo is correct, but the timing is wrong. The DR-880 starts the BBS-1, but the clicks are not in time.
Hi Kevin,
There could be a a number of issues. Im guessing there could be some latency in the transfer of the midi clock timing from the DR-880 to the computer, and then back out to the BBS-1.
Depending on your application, using the computer as the Master and branching out to the two devices may give better results, but I can see why that might not be useful for you.
Unfortunately, as you know, MIDI clock is kind of a vague protocol -only giving information related to the rate of playback and no other atrributes ( time signature etc ). I suppose it is up to each individual device to decide at what point within that information stream to define the precise point at which the beat occurs. That is why tempo would be correct but the two devcies out of phase.
