i recently bought a 420 from someone on eBay. the tuner, when compared to a BOSS TU-2, shows a noticeably flat tuning. typically i'm 14 cents flat. can this be attributed to drifting capacitor values in the circuit?

any other advice?

thanks!

Hi,
the tuner you bought was made from the mid 1970s until the mid 1980s, and was probably never serviced, so two things could have happened, the simple explanation is that the cent knob may have just slipped on its shaft through use and neglect, or theres an electronic fault.
In any case you would be well advised to send it in to us for service, we repair every strobe tuner made since 1936 cool.gif:
Peterson Electro-Musical Products, Inc.
Attn. Tech West
11601 S. Mayfield Ave.
Alsip, IL 60803

Include your name, address and telephone number. Minimum repair cost is $55.00 + parts & shipping.
After its fixed you will have a tuner which will last you a long time, and be many times as accurate as the tuner you tested it with which has an official accuracy of + or minus 3 cents (6 cent error) when new ohmy.gif.
