Can you describe your system settings and specs? Sonica Hush audio-only PC - no web connection - Intel Quadcore 4G Ram - 3-500G HDD - Apogee Rosetta 200 Firewire audio interface, 4 UAD-1 cards, several USB interfaces Sonar 8, XP Pro SP2, several dozen plugins - also Strobosoft Deluxe v1 running as a standalone. No other plugin issues at this point except for newly released Omnisphere, although it does run more or less in Sonar. SS is scanned by both Sonar and Chainer but gives an instant Sonar/Chainer crash upon insertion - not able to get to the verification screen of SS. |

gwp99,
Can you run StroboSoft as a stand-alone? You should be able to double-click the icon and launch it directly. Sonar 8 was not available during the beta phase but it is assumed it should be backwards compatible with previous versions. If you can run it stand-alone, there may be some corruption with the sLINK host. |

I reinstalled SS2 and I no longer have crashes...SS2 does works in standalone mode on my system...and will work in VST mode in SONAR ONLY AS FOLLOWS: I use dual monitors - Track View in one and Console View in the other. SS2 is designed with 2 panels - the small panel that shows the VU Meter and the main SS2 plugin panel - not sure why you would do this? Anyway, both of these SS2 panels need to be viewed in the same monitor - separating them into separate monitors looses the main SS2 plugin panel when focus is given to the SS2 VU panel - I can hear the guitar input and can see the VU meter - but of course, I can't see the SS2 plugin panel. Keeping the two SS2 panels in my left hand monitor (Track View) doesn't work as I lose the SS2 plugin panel when I try to give it focus (via the SS2 VU panel) IF the Track View is MAXIMIZED...if I resize the Track view window (non-maximized), I am able to get both SS2 panels in view and therefore, SS2 VST works. If I keep the two SS2 panels in my right hand monitor (Console View), the only way I can view the SS2 plugin panel is if I resize the Console to NON-MAXIMIZED...in this case, both of SS2 panels are in view and therefore the VST will work. So the two Sonar issues are: 1) SS2 2-panel design - they have to be kept together on the same monitor (I have never seen this plugin design before). 2) SS2 only works when the Console/Track Views are NOT maximized... A third issue (not Sonar related), is that when the SS2 plugin panel looses focus, it closes and ends up on my Windows task bar as an icon - in order to refocus SS2, I have to open my Windows task bar and click on the Peterson icon. Although I can get the SS2 VST to work in Sonar, it is only by using a work around...which is a nuisance. Hope this helps, Gerry Sonica Hush audio-only PC - no web connection - Intel Quadcore 4G Ram - 3-500G HDD - Apogee Rosetta 200 Firewire audio interface, 4 UAD-1 cards, several USB interfaces

Gerry,
"A third issue (not Sonar related), is that when the SS2 plugin panel looses focus, it closes and ends up on my Windows task bar as an icon - in order to refocus SS2, I have to open my Windows task bar and click on the Peterson icon." You can lock the application on top to keep it in focus by clicking the "T" in the top right of the interface. We are looking into the dual monitor situation currently and I'll be back with more information. The "plug-in" window can be closed without affecting SS2 running. |

The "T" in the top right of the interface is what I was missing - thanks for pointing that out - I now have a workable configuration using the "T", SS's compact view and it's minimize button. As I only have SS in view when it is being used (it is hidden much of the time), I still have to use the Peterson icon to bring SS back into view...rather than just clicking on the SS entry in the track/buss Effects Bin - this appears to be the result of the 2 part design...and may be a Sonar anomaly. But I am now able to use Strobosoft VST and it works great... Thanks very much for your help and I look forward to future updates... Gerry |

Gerry,
Thanks for the update! Sounds great. I will follow up with Cakewalk to perform continue testing in S8. |
