Hello.
I've been comparing this tuner with 3 different & reliable tuners........gives me some impossible readings. Example: When I tune an open G string on an electric guitar with Strobosoft, the other 3 read F# a bit sharp. Transpose is set at 0, Temperament equal.
How can this be possible?

retro-fret:

Have you calibrated StroboSoft to an external tone (typically a reliable A440)?

When comparing a StroboSoft reading to other tuners, you may find the biasing introduced by your sound card is enough to alter the reading. Calibrating to an external tone will allow StroboSoft to measure what the amount of bias is and offset the readings by that amount to give you a more accurate measurement.

From what you are experiencing, (open G being neighbor to F#)I suspect this is the case.

Here is how to calibrate StroboSoft:
1. Go into the SET-UP menu
2. Click the CALIBRATE tab
3. Make sure your input frequency is set to 440.0
4. You can calibrate StroboSoft to an external A440 tone by clicking MEASURE. (Please note: The tone must be at least 7-10 seconds long to provide a good reading.)
5. You will see the calibration factor update after the measurement has taken place.

Here is a thread from our forum that provides links to reputable A440 tone sites that you can use to calibrate StroboSoft. The post with the links is about for messages down.

(Refer to the manual for more help on calibration or leave another post.)

Make sure the GLOBAL OFFSET is set at 0.0 also.
