Heres a description of the different durability tests that the StroboStomp had to endure before the final production model was approved...
The material for the StroboStomp enclosure is not like the extruded or sheet metal of other pedals, its an aluminum (or aluminium ) alloy of the type used in the manufacturing of heavy duty lighting trusses in the live concert industry.

It has more elasticity and strength than other metals, which is why trusses carry tons and tons of gear hanging from the roof over people's heads at big shows...

Heres what a "stripped down" StroboStomp looks like...

So how durable does that make the StroboStomp?
enquiring minds wanted to know, so, of course we drove over it...

Dragged it around the factory grounds a few miles...

Played a few innings with it...

...

...

...

...

...

Ouch!!!! It landed and bounced a few times...but

wait a minute...
... it can't be

ITS ALIIIVE!!!
CAUTION: Attempts to emulate this test will void the warranty on your Peterson Strobe Tuner, please try first with a digital tuner.

That is, without a doubt, the coolest product demo I've ever seen! I wanted one of these anyways, but after watching you hit it with a baseball bat and I HAD to run to the music store and buy one NOW!(Okay, it was an hour ago, but still....)

After purchasing the StroboStomp last week I've decided that I will be running my car over my old s@b%#e tuner. Maybe I'll post pictures of the results...
The StroboStomp is definitely the best built tuner I've ever owned. |

Your demo certainly makes it clear that the StroboStomp chassis is well-built. A few reviews at musiciansfriend.com suggest that the StroboStomp footswitch failed. I understand that these reviews might be legitimate or they might not be. (They could be from some "poor sport" competitor...)
Can you give us any kind of idea of what percentage of StroboStomps sold or shipped to date have made claims of any warranty repair?
How long is the warranty? What would the procedure be if I bought a StroboStomp and the switch failed?
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott, I would disregard those reviews, on the site you mention, some people "reviewed" the StroboStomp before it was even released ! I guess not everyone is happy to see it arrive for whatever reason. On the other hand, one poster on HC claimed to have owned and gigged with a StroboStomp a full two months before the release & gave a very positive opinion of it (which was great, funny and weird at the same time !)
If I was a customer that had a switch fail on me, the first thing I would do is contact the dealer or manufacturer, but to date, we have had no owners contact us with footswitch failures. The StroboStomp carries a three year warranty, all necessary repairs will be carried out in our U.S. and European service locations. If you need help, we're right here !

Where can I get a stripped down casing for my strobo stomp tuner? I like the silver casing. Also, is there a way for the led to be reversed (muted/tune=led on instead of muted/tune=led off)?
Thanks Charlie |

Just a sujestion. You guys should consider making an aluminum finish option. I have a bit of a theme going with my guitar set up and it just happens to be polished aluminum. I just read that you loose your warranty if you strip it. I just think thats unfortunate. This is best tuner i know of, I'll be buying one soon. OH nice elevater music by the way. |

Hi Adomic-One,

Imagine if we did....I can see the posts now.... "I fell over on stage last night after being blinded by the #$@&* highly polished metal finish on the StroboStomp...and I'm the vocalist, I don't even play guitar! This is a design flaw etc. etc.....!"
, so I think blue will do for now ...
...besides, its my sister's favorite color and I'd hate to hurt her feelings .....

so, i'm maybe the first that makes mention of a design flaw?
as follows: (bought my strobostomp mid january, and used it on some 170 shows so far this year; *busy guitartech mode*)
the plastic jack inputs and their respective thread, are NOT road proof, somehow.
since a month or three now, every time when i take my strobostomp out of my toolcase (carried inside a bunch of cloths, neatly and tightly - but not too tight - packed away in my flightcase), the washers and nuts on the jack inputs have come loose; upon inspection, (sorry for my english, not a native speaker, here.. so i'll do my best to 'describe') i found out that the "tension" on the nuts keeping the jack input at a certain position outside of the metal casing, is rather great, and definitely "too much" for the plastic thread on the jack input to endure.... the thread is nearly gone now; one nut doesn't stay fixed anyway, the other one almost comes off when LOOKING at the tuner, so to say.
what's your advise? |

| These are not indestructible! I've had mine for almost a year now. I brought the pedal on tour, during which it was stored in pedal board in a road case. I went to the studio to record two days and the pedal no longer works. Whenever you turn it on it cycles thru all the menu options and doesn't respond to you pushing the buttons or your guitar input. I am leaving on tour next week and will gone for 8 months. I now have no tuner for the tour, no money to buy a new one, and no time to go thru all the warranty crap. |
