Just wondering, what is the significance of the number that appears as a subscript to the right of the note that I'm strumming.

I'm using the BFE setting and when I pluck the E string, for instance, the display shows E2. This happens for all the strings. I get:
E2
A2
D3
G3
B3
E4

What is the meaning of the number?

Hi stu42.

The number refers to the octave in which the note being played is found, based on a piano keyboard. Starting at 0 and going up to 8.
