I've read the reviews (all of them), I've read the product specs, but I haven't gotten to try one!! I'm really excited to get one, as I've had serious issues with my b@ss TU-2. How good is it with intonation and setups? Basically, I'm asking for more personal experience :-)

Ok, I'll give you my two cents..

On another forum I spend alot of time at the tuner question pops up from time to time and it's always the same story.
People get divided in two. TU-2 vs SS people.
These two tuners are the best tuners out there, people seem to all agree on that tough.
But the thing is that the TU-2 people never have tried the SS and are showing a conservative behavior. They don't care about the SS, they don't want to test it, and even though SS people say they are better, they don't care to listen.

I have owned both the SS and a similar to the TU-2 tuner pedal (Fender PT-10, same thing basically not as easy to read though because of TU-2's big display) and today I would never consider to go back.
Why you might ask?
Once you get familiar with the SS it's a whole different thing. It's hard to explain but it's like you get a better feel when tuning. It doesn't sway back and forth like a regular tuner.
When you think you have tuned the string to the correct pitch, and you hit the string again and suddenly it's too sharp, sound familiar?
This doesn't exist with the SS.
Some people say it's too hard to get the scope to stop entirely, and I can to some point agree, but getting them close enough to stop entirely will still sound better then with another tuner.
When intonating though I take my time to tune perfectly, and it's not that hard after a little practise..

Sure they are a little extra money, but it's worth it. And if something happens or if you have technical questions, Peterson has great customer support.
